Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) at Métis Child, Family and Community Services (MCFCS)

At Métis Child, Family, and Community Services, we believe in the power of diversity and the importance of creating inclusive environments where every individual is treated with respect, equity, and fairness. Our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is at the heart of everything we do.

What is DEI?

  • Diversity: Embracing differences in race, ethnicity, culture, gender, sexual orientation, ability, and experiences to create a richer, more dynamic community.
  • Equity: Ensuring that everyone has access to the resources, opportunities, and support they need to thrive, recognizing that different people require different levels of support to achieve fairness.
  • Inclusion: Creating an environment where every voice is valued, where individuals feel welcomed, heard, and empowered to contribute.

Why DEI Matters to Us

  • We are dedicated to making our services accessible to all families and children in the Metis community.
  • We aim to provide safe and supportive spaces for individuals from all backgrounds.
  • By fostering DEI principles, we can create stronger, more resilient families and communities.

Our Commitment to DEI

  • Cultural Inclusivity – Honouring Métis traditions while embracing diverse backgrounds
  • Equitable Opportunities – Breaking down barriers and fostering success for all
  • Safe & Respectful Spaces – Ensuring dignity and respect for every individual
  • Continuous Learning – Engaging in ongoing training to support inclusive policies and practices

We invite all members of the Métis community to stand with us in promoting DEI. Together, we can build a future where everyone feels valued, supported, and included.

2SLGBTQQIA+

Metis Child, Family and Community Services recognizes persons of 2SLGBTQQIA+ communities and their experiences with additional barriers and discrimination within systems of power.  Metis Child, Family and Community Services strives to support diversity and inclusion within this community with the goal of creating better outcomes for children, youth and families involved within the agency.  The agency has a working committee created to better support staff and has goals to include persons with lived experience on the committee.  Other identified goals are to ensure that staff and caregivers receive ongoing training and education on the topic. The intersectionalities within systems of power, privilege and cultural identity all play a role on a person’s well-being, feelings of acceptance and their mental health.

If this is important to you and you want to become involved, please reach out to us.  If there is something you think the agency can be doing to do this better, please let us know.
